How do I position myself as a coach?
- Pay attention to self-confidence and motivation of the young people. Let them approach difficult situations as learning opportunities through the way of questioning.
- Create a safe climate in the group, in which there is room for the emotions of the young people. Pay attention to this and provide tools for how to deal with this professionally.
- Increase the curiosity of young people; what is the background / situation of the other party / why is this complex for me. Have a curious attitude towards the vision of the youngster. Approach this culture sensitive and have an eye for the underlying thoughts and frameworks of the young people.
Training tips
- Write down four emotions and come up with different situations. In the follow-up discussion, try to link this to situations in the workplace.
- Simulate a feedback conversation about a complex situation at work.
- Give examples of complex situations that may arise due to language or cultural differences based on cases. Ask the young people about their experience in different areas of life.
- Teach the youngster not to avoid a complex situation. Teach them what to do ->

Language tips
- Give young people tools for when they do not understand something in the workplace, such as example sentences, notebook, indicate if you do not understand.
